Brenzone, a town immersed in nature and history. Information about apartments, camping and hotels in Brenzone, Lake Garda, Italy.

The small town of Brenzone, important tourist centre, extends for 12 km along the side of the Lake. In this area, the Lake reaches its maximal depth, 350 mt.
It is composed by numerous hamlets, some of which are on the shore of Lake and some on the slopes of Monte Baldo. The municipal centre is in Magugnano and the inhabitants are about 2.400.
The settlement of Brenzone does have Roman origins, like Malcesine and Torri del Benaco, but it goes back to antiquity, as it is shown by the graffitis found on a stone near Castelletto. The houses in Magugnano still represent a medieval village, as you can see from the small church of San Zeno in the cemetery of Castelletto, one of the oldest churches of the Lake.
A castle, the fortress of the Earls Brenzoni in Biazza, dominated the area. In front of Brenzone there is the small island of Trimelone, 200 mt long, which was fortified during the 10th century, at the time of the hungarian invasion. The fortress was destroyed by Barbarossa in 1158 and the rebuild by the Lords of Verona. It was used as military store and it is now in ruins.
